B Corp Month 2023

The world is facing some of the biggest crises and challenges of our time. Our environment is in rapid decline. Social justice gaps are widening, not closing. By choosing to prioritise profit over people and planet, most businesses are adding to the problem. That's where B Corp comes in.

B Corp isn't just a mark; it's a global movement of like minded people from all industries going beyond business as usual to make their mark on the world in a positive way. Because the B Corp community demonstrates what is possible when businesses think beyond profit. When we go beyond what is expected. When we come together to prove beyond doubt that there is a better way to do business.

WE GO BEYOND GREENWASHING

Going beyond greenwashing is walking the talk to tackle the climate crisis. In a world where lots of companies make misleading statements or just put up a show to distract from their not-so-ideal practices, B Corps distinguish themselves by truly taking meaningful action. We're also brutally honest. Transparency is everything and we're not ashamed to admit it when something doesn't go to plan, in order for others to learn from our mistakes and push innovation forwards towards a more sustainable future.

WE GO BEYOND FOR PEOPLE

B Corps understand the importance of taking all people into account, beyond only shareholders. We look after our own, supporting their needs in everyday life, not just at work. We scruitinise our value chain from beginning to end and push for innovation and sustainability from our suppliers and industry as a whole. It's more than just policy, it's doing what is right for all stakeholders.

WE GO BEYOND FOR OUR COMMUNITY (LOCALLY AND BEYOND)

It's giving up our time to support local causes such as Devon Environment Foundation, Till The Coast is Clear and more. It's getting our hands dirty while we plant trees or collect and sort ocean waste from our coastline. It's offering mentorship to encourage diversity and inclusion within the drinks industry by offering mentorship though Be Inclusive and Equal Measures / The Drinks Trust. It's donating 1% of all revenue through 1% For The Planet and partnering with Ecologi for a climate positive workforce (you can see our impact here). Because if you're able to help in a positive way, you should.

WE GO BEYOND THE BOTTOM LINE

Profit is important but it's not everything. We take the time to evaluate every decision within our business, with the overriding question "is it the right thing to do?". If it's not right then we simply don't do it, even if doing it could benefit us commercially. For example, we decided to scrap all plans for single bottle gift boxes a while back, an idea which has now been adopted by giants Diageo with a phased removal of cardboard packaging to test customer response and reduce waste as part of their 10 year action plan.

But enough about us.

B Corp Month is about supporting each other and shouting about the good stuff. We've done the hard work for you and have put together some brilliant fellow B Corp certified brands for you to discover below, along with a little incentive to help you to make more sustainable purchase choices.
