Hattiers' RUMWAY - the Official Cocktail of The Devil Wears Prada Musical at Theatre Royal Plymouth

Updated: Jul 15

Gird your loins! The Devil Wears Prada, a new musical, struts into Plymouth for an exclusive pre-West End season in July & August 2024.

The Devil Wears Prada is a new musical based on the blockbuster film and bestselling novel and features an original score by music legend Sir Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub, a book by Kate Wetherhead and direction & choreography by 3-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman, Hairspray).

The Devil Wears Prada is proudly a Theatre Royal Plymouth Co-Production, which will play an exclusive preview engagement from Saturday 6th July to Saturday 17th August, prior to opening in the West End in the autumn.

Tony Award nominee Vanessa Williams, best known for her celebrated TV roles in Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives and as a multi-award winning singer, will play the iconic role of Miranda Priestly, the undisputed Queen of Fashion, Editor-in-Chief of Runway Magazine and the inspiration for Hattiers' 'RUMWAY' cocktail.

Hot on the heels of its success at Theatre Royal Plymouth’s recent regional press launch of The Devil Wears Prada: A New Musical, Hattiers' 'RUMWAY’ cocktail will be served throughout the entire Plymouth run of the musical and was enjoyed by theatre goers at the show's successful opening night.

Philip Everett-Lyons, founder and CEO of Hattiers Rum, expressed his excitement: “After the brilliant feedback we received from the regional launch, we are delighted to continue serving ‘Rumway’ throughout the production’s run. It’s a simple yet exquisite cocktail that showcases our Egremont rum beautifully.”

Described as a ‘fresh and fruity aged rum cocktail with a devilish kick’, the star ingredient of the ‘RUMWAY’ cocktail is Hattiers’ Egremont, a blend of four cask-aged rums handpicked from across the Caribbean and Central America, paired with pure soft Dartmoor spring water. To complement our premium rum, Hattiers chose to partner with fellow Devon brand Luscombe Drinks, known for their high-quality, great-tasting soft drinks. Luscombe’s dedication to crafting beverages from the finest organic ingredients makes their Hot Ginger Beer and Raspberry Crush perfect mixers for the ‘RUMWAY’ cocktail.

To recreate the ‘RUMWAY’ cocktail at home;

Add 35ml of Hattiers Egremont Premium Reserve Rum to a highball glass with ice.

Squeeze in the juice of a quarter wedge of fresh lime, drop into the glass.

Fill the remainder of the glass with three-quarters Luscombe Hot Ginger Beer and one-quarter Luscombe Raspberry Crush.

Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and serve with a paper or reusable straw.

Megan Stone, Senior Media and Communications Officer from Theatre Royal Plymouth, added: “We’re thrilled to be working with Hattiers Rum and to continue to serve 'RUMWAY' to our guests throughout the production, especially at the VIP Gala night. Miranda Priestly would surely approve!”

The Theatre Royal Plymouth has also partnered with Arts University Plymouth to showcase ‘hautter than hell’ outfits created by South West designers that they believe would get two nods from the formidable Miranda Priestly. The six designs will be displayed in the front of house areas at Theatre Royal Plymouth throughout the show’s run.
